Harzer Hexen-Stieg: Brocken section
Three consecutive forest walks link Torfhaus, the Brocken and Altenbrak through potential hotels and pensions—the forgiving inn-to-inn test, with Torfhaus bus, Schierke connections and Drei Annen Hohne rail/bus as dated exit leads.

The useful detail
What the trip really involves
This is explicitly inn-to-inn. The official host list is hotels, resorts, youth hostels and pensions, not a staffed refuge chain. The first walking day has complete official figures; the published 30.30 km southern stage is split only provisionally until its GPX and a one-night Hasselfelde room are confirmed.
Forest inn-to-inn test
- Route type
- Harzer Hexen-Stieg inn-to-inn section using hotels, pensions, resorts or hostels.
- Verified stage
- Torfhaus–Brocken–Drei Annen Hohne: 19.73 km · 5 h · +341/−599 m.
- Provisional split
- The official Drei Annen Hohne–Hasselfelde–Altenbrak stage is 30.30 km · 7.5 h · +173/−416 m. Its two proposed daily halves remain unmeasured.
- Overnight model
- Potential one-night properties are needed at Torfhaus, Drei Annen Hohne and Hasselfelde. No property, room or dinner is secured; Altenbrak is the finish, not an assumed overnight.
- Room reality
- Official hosts are commercial inns, hotels, resorts, hostels and pensions, but live inventory and one-night room and dinner acceptance remain unconfirmed.
- Weather exits
- Torfhaus has a bus lead; Schierke has bus/rail connections toward Wernigerode; Drei Annen Hohne has rail/bus access. Brockenbahn is a separate dated summit-to-valley option where weather and service permit.
- Live constraint
- Brocken wind and fog plus park closures can change the route; the August 2026 Hirtenstieg closure is a concrete reason to recheck.
- Luggage
- Assume full-pack carry on all three walking days unless a specific storage or transfer plan is researched; no luggage transfer is promised.
- Inn essentials
- Still check dated opening, payment or cash, showers, whether any liner is required, meals and dietary procedure, luggage storage, and cancellation terms.
- Still pending
- Exact southern split, three one-night properties, meals, Antwerp transport, dated exits, luggage plan and complete cost.

How the days could work
These are rough estimates and they will be wrong. They are here so we can judge a day for ourselves, not to schedule it. Only timings taken from a source are marked.
