At Fählensee, reached on foot
The chosen room is the “Bollenwees” double room: double bed, private shower and WC, breakfast included.
Important for 2026: Bollenwees currently reports most listed weekends as sold out. The plan is complete, but the date is chosen only once Bollenwees confirms the private room. Weekday availability can still be requested directly.

The four days
This is the chosen version, not a menu of alternatives.
Leave Antwerp in the morning, use the live road route, and build in fuel or charging, food and traffic stops. Check in at Café-Hotel Appenzell, leave the car behind the hotel and have dinner there.
After breakfast, drive to the Hoher Kasten lower-station parking at Dorf 22, 9058 Brülisau. Register the car in parking zone 901. Walk via Pfannenstiel, Brüeltobel, Plattenbödeli and Sämtisersee to Bollenwees.
Parking: accepts Swiss-franc coins, Parkingpay, Easypark or TWINT — not credit or debit cards. Register the car even during the free parking window.
Eat the included Appenzeller breakfast, ask the hosts for current trail advice, then retrace the marked route through Sämtisersee and Plattenbödeli to Brülisau. Collect the same car and return to Café-Hotel Appenzell.
Have breakfast, check the live road situation and drive home. Monday stays a full return day instead of pretending an Alpine weekend fits neatly around two workdays.
Commit in this order
Request the “Bollenwees” double room for two. Accept the “Fählensee” double only if shared showers are comfortable for both of us.
